Frequently Asked Questions
How do I begin the process of scheduling an appointment?
Our process is designed for clarity and fit. Your first step is to find a therapist from our team whose profile, specialties, and approach resonate with you. Once you’ve identified a good match, you will contact them directly using the secure email or phone number provided on their individual profile page to discuss availability and schedule an initial session.
What if I need help choosing a therapist?
We know that finding the right match is key. We encourage you to read through our detailed therapist profiles, paying attention to their modalities, specialties, and personal philosophy. If you still have general questions, you may reach out to info@aiontherapyportland.com for general availability guidance, but the therapist will handle the initial consultation and scheduling directly.
Do you offer services both in-person and via telehealth?
Yes. We offer flexible options to accommodate your needs. You can choose to meet with your therapist in-person or utilize secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth (video sessions) from the comfort of your home. Please check your chosen therapist’s profile for their specific availability (in-person, telehealth, or both).
How long does therapy last?
Therapy is a highly individualized process. Some clients find resolution in short-term, goal-focused work (e.g., 8-12 sessions), while others benefit from longer-term, more in-depth exploration. You will discuss your goals and desired pace collaboratively with your chosen therapist in your first few sessions.
What is your fee structure for sessions?
Our standard fee for a 45 to 60-minute individual session is $225. Please note that specialized services like couples counseling, groups, or extended sessions may have different rates. Each therapist manages their own fee schedule; please discuss fees directly with your chosen therapist.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes. To make therapy more financially accessible, many of our therapists offer a structured sliding scale policy for clients who are paying out-of-pocket (self-pay) and are not utilizing insurance benefits. Eligibility for a reduced fee is typically based on demonstrated financial need. Please inquire about sliding scale availability directly with your chosen therapist.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, our clinicians work with several major insurance plans, including Oregon Health Plan (CareOregon and Open Card) and Moda and PacificSource. Many also accept Out-of-Network benefits. Please check your chosen therapist’s profile to see which insurance panels they are credentialed with. You must verify your coverage directly with your insurance provider.
What if I don’t have insurance or my therapist does not accept my plan?
For clients whose insurance their therapist does not accept, your therapist can provide you with a superbill (detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
What is the cancellation policy?
We reserve your session time exclusively for you. Each therapist maintains their own cancellation policy (typically 24-48 hours’ notice). Sessions canceled with less notice will be subject to the full session fee. Please confirm the specific policy with your therapist during your initial contact.
Is my information kept confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of our practice and a legal requirement for therapists. Everything discussed in your session is kept strictly confidential, with a few legally mandated exceptions (e.g., immediate threat of serious harm to yourself or others, or suspected child/elder abuse). This policy will be reviewed fully by your therapist during your first appointment.
